Lionel 671-158 Insulating Plate (Nameplate-Lettered) - The 671-158 insulating plate, often referred to as a nameplate, first appeared on Lionel's 671 Turbine in 1946 when Lionel first offered its Turbine type locomotives. In 1949 Lionel redesigned the collector assemblies for some of their locomotives, including the turbine and in doing so removed the lettering from the nameplate. The nameplate shown has the printing. If you need the plate without the printing, order part number 671-113. The insulating plate is designed to be used in conjunction with two 671-112 insulating bushings. This plate prevents the underside of the head of the collector mounting screws from touching the collector assembly thereby causing a short to ground. The 671-113 and 671-158 insulating plates must be used in conjunction with two (2) 671-112 insulating bushings. In a pinch you can use an insulating washer under the head of each screw in place of the insulating plate. (Updated 9/15/2016)
