Lionel 671M-21 Thrust Bearing (Set of 12) - The 671M-21 ball bearing was first used in the 671M-1 motor Lionel produced in 1947. These bearings were also used in the 2332M-1 motor that was designed around the 671M-1 motor, as well as the early 622-100 and 2023-100 motors. They are also found in some accessory motors as well. When installing these bearings, they are usually installed encased between two thrust washers, one above and one below the bearing balls. Lionel's assembly manual for the motors utilizing these bearing balls specified that 10 be used, although 11 will fit. It is not necessary to fill the bearing pocket. If you intend to replace the thrust bearing in your motor, you would be well advised to replace the upper and lower thrust washers as well. Depending on the motor type, the part numbers for the thrust washer(s) would be 671M-19 and/or 671M-23.
