Lionel SLS-254-27 Armature - The SLS-254-27 armature is a prewar armature and used exclusively during Lionel's prewar manufacturing period. This armature is used in prewar motors having a single reduction gear, such as the 252, 252E, 253, 253E, 254, 254E, 257, 258, 259, 259E, 260E, 261, 261E, 262 and 262E. Since this armature is used in several motor styles, you will need to decide which pinion gear you need. The most common is the SL-85. NOTE: Some of the motors for the locomotives listed used different armatures and pinions depending on when the motor was manufactured. There are 4 possible armatures: SLS-15, SLS-254-27; 262E-23 and 262E-23X. In addition, the SLS-30 armature is essentially the same, again, without the pinion gear. This armature will not fit the humpback style motor. If you need an armature for the humpback style motor, used part number SL-15. If you are not sure of which armature you need, contact us and send us your old armature to be matched.
